Theor Foundation
On October 2022, the Theor Foundation was founded from the desire to improve the quality of care for children with cleft lip and palate. To achieve this objective, the foundation focuses on innovation, education and science at home and abroad.
Founder and board members

Mariska Hartendorp
Within the Medical Center of Leeuwarden, as a staff officer/casemanager, she deals with themes such as vulnerable pregnant women, child abuse and domestic violence. In addition, she is a medical social worker associated with cleft lip and palate team North and she fulfills a board position within this team and the Dutch association for cleft lip-palate and craniofacial disorders (NVSCA).
In addition to her regular work within the hospital, she derives pleasure and satisfaction from developing and creating new things. For example, she has written and partly illustrated a book for children with cleft lip and palate.
Dr. Chantal Moues
As a plastic surgeon affiliated with the Medical Center of Leeuwarden, she is specialized in pediatric plastic and breast reconstructive surgery. She has been a trainer since 2016 and tries to create a good learning environment within her department to empower physician assistants to get the best out of themselves. Team-thinking and strategic use of each other's best qualities is the guiding principle.
She plays sports frequently to relax and goes to Bangladesh or Africa together with energetic teammates to perform cleft lip and palate operations and teach local doctors how to operate.
As vice-chairman of the cleft lip and palate team North, she tries to implement the team's focused thinking, to consolidate an agreement and to conduct new and innovative scientific research together. Her mission for the future is to perpetuate cleft lip and palate care where care is excellent and to make it possible to increase exposure to plastic surgery for everyone through VR gaming.

prof. dr. Corstiaan Breugem
In addition to being a pediatric plastic surgeon in the cleft lip and palate team of Amsterdam, professor Corstiaan Breugem is also chairman of the Dutch association for cleft lip - palate and craniofacial disorders (NVSCA).
As a professor, he sees it as his job to inspire and educate others, he has a passion for Global Health issues and wants to change healthcare in low-income countries. It's his dream to form local teams in these countries around cleft lip and palate care, whereby exchange of knowledge and support from the Netherlands can be deployed.
